My Jewelry: couture and ready to wear

school has started and I was ready to make some new jewelry pieces! The first project was angle raising which I already had a few ideas about what i wanted to do and i was ready to get started but because our class was so big our teacher split the project in half. Half of the class is doing angle raising and the other half is doing die forming, and because I already had my project figured out for angle raising chances were I was doing die forming (Murphy's law and all).

I was right and ended up in the die forming group. I had a few ideas but none that i really wanted to commit to. on top of that I also wanted to make two projects, because I'm an over achiever ;) the reason why is that I wanted to make two projects is I'm in intermediate 2 and i feel like I need to show more.  more skills, more time management, more pieces.

Thanks to project runway (that inspired what I did for my project) I decided to make a "couture" necklace, as well as a "ready to wear" piece because in fashion that is what designers do.  I knew that I wanted the couture piece to be big and the ready to wear to be more easy to wear.

I enameled the die formed pieces. I wanted the colors to be bright. I made a lot of samples of which colors I wanted to use. I also wanted the colors to fade in to each other. I also hand made the chain. I used foxtail weave and a double loop and loop.  I love these pieces and wanted to share them with you because I always talk about showing you guys what I'm doing so here they are! i hope you love them as much I do!

Last week my school brought a visiting artist. they do this from time to time with different clubs. this time it was artist margery amdur. she came did a lecture in the afternoon which i attended.(because one of the art professors came in to our classroom and told us about it and our teacher said it was ok to go! YAY!) she went though some of the art she did when she first started out. it was 3-D installation work and some really awesome community art  pieces. she showed us how her style changed and what to do if we get in a creative slump. then at 5 was her gallery opening. which was amazing.

i went to go visit my grandparents for spring break i still have to go though most of the pics i took but here are some i took with my phone.

skittles + coke in glass bottle = best road trip fuel ever! it keeps you awake for the 12 hour drive.

i never understood why they called them the purple mountains majesty un till we got to Tennessee because those mountains looked purple and i was like ohhh that's why.

every morning started with strong coffee.

it was such a nice day the day before we left it was sunny and 75 degrees. then my mom called her friend and she told us that it snowed a lot. so then the rest of the day became a count down to back to the snowy weather. 

 back to reality i have so much stuff going on these next two weeks i will try to blog about it. my sister and i are making take a ways for mark newport. he's visiting our school and doing a performance and were making them so the people who are participating in the performance have something to remember the event by. will try to take photos of the event! were all pretty excited about this. will keep you guys posted!

haven't you heard.....

haven't you heard new year new classes. i started back at school this week, i'm so excited! i have ceramics and its getting better i'm making a whistle (and it works!) once i'm done with it i will show you guys. i'm also taking a weaving and fibers class that i'm so stoked to be taking. were gonna learn knitting (which i already know how to do that) weaving on a loom (i'm super excited to learn), and to embroider so needless to say i can't wait. i have a few other classes i'm taking just to fill out my requirements, but those are the ones i'm excited about most! 

the first weaving and fibers class we had was just a lets get to know each other a bit better, and a why did you want to take this class? so i got to know some of the other students and not to mention my sister is also taking these two classes with me. (yay!) then the teacher had a presentation and she gave us a list of names and i just freaked out when i saw that jenny heart was on that list. totally made my day because i love sublime stitching.i look a her patterns and always want to get some but i don't know how to embroider.(i let my sister do that....for now lol) so here's to learning new things!

Johannes Vermerr is a dutch painter from the bar baroque period. he was know for taking great lengths of time painting one picture. his most famous painting is Girl With a Pearl Earring.

keith haring! he was born in reading pennsylvania in may 4, 1958. he went to school in pittsburgh and was friends with andy warhol. he was most famous for doing "graffiti" art in subway stations with chalk. he also was famous for the "crack is wack" mural. he died of aids on february 16, 1990. Since his death, Haring has been the subject of several international retrospectives. The work of Keith Haring can be seen today in the exhibitions and collections of major museums around the world.
