my new favorite jewelry designers Anndra Neen
I have loved Phoebe and Annette Stevens ever since I saw them on a video for style like u. They described their style and their views on jewelry and what it means to them. The way they talked about their process in designing jewelry I could really relate to. All of their jewelry is hand crafted in Mexico City which is really great they are giving jobs to their community which i really admire.
pictured above there are some pieces from their caged collection, copper collection, mirror and pin collection, and spine collection among others. To see all of their collections visit them at anndraneen.com I love their jewelry its so effortless to wear and makes a statement with anything you wear but I tend to wear a new piece of jewelry with everything even if it doesn't match, it matches. it forces me to create an outfit around the jewelry. My favorite pieces from them has to be their bags, purses and clutches. There is an air of sophistication to them with a hint of reckless abandon which i respond strongly to. These bags are truly a work of art and are a statement in themselves.
i love this picture above that their bracelets can easily be sculptures and look the same which can be a very hard thing to do. Below is the video that introduced me to them. Watch it you'll fall in love with them too.

the game of life
well since i've been gone i have gone to new york and changed my major yes yes i am that girl. the girl who thinks she know what she wants to do with the rest of her life and when she likes something like say drawing she changes it. which i did more times than i care to admit but this time its different. seriously it's the only thing i think about, what is this new major that is all you think about you say? its METAL SMITHING! yes i took the jump to make pretty things and i've very excited about it! i keep saying that i'm going to share thing and don't but it was because i did not have a camera and now that i do i will photograph them, but in the mean time this is a pin that i made for a pin swap at school. i have so much to share ill be back.
cheers

fashion obsessions nose ring
the givenchy nose rings are so lovely and bad ass all at once.
definitely inspired to create faux nose rings because i want to rock this look with out the commitment.
are you inspired as much as i am? would you rock this look? would you pierce to rock this look or would you faux it like me? let me know!

inspiration for rings
the first assignment in my metal smithing is to cast two rings and with one of the two you need to set stones on them. which since my sister already took this class i knew what to expect, however i had no idea what to make given the fact that i had prepared all winter break for this. when push came to shove there was nothing that i was excited about to actually make it into a ring. let alone add stones.
any one who knows me knows i love chunky jewelry, but i didn't know how to approach this because i knew i didn't want a big stone with something typical around it. i knew i wanted something special, that no one had but every one would go "man i want that ring, or that ring is so cool." is that too much pressure? maybe but i can't help my self. that is my problem i want to make amazing things that nothing can hold up to my standards.
so fast forward to the conversation my mother and sister and i had while eating dinner. Mom : "remember when you were little and we went to the zoo? and all you and your sister did was pick up stones. you would put them in your pockets and i didn't have the heart to throw them away."
then it hit me why not try to update that story? so now i'm designing pieces that are inspired by that story.
can't wait to share my sketches!

all this time.....what i've missed
i wanted to come back to this blog with inspiration and a new out look and between the last days of school and having a really bad cold i have fallen short. i have missed showing you what i have been working on and i even missed my 2 year blogaiversary however i will be more present because i love writing, and sharing my points of view and thing i love and get inspiration from and with that said i want to share that i changed my minor again. 1 because i'm allergic to the ingredients in the clay and 2. making the clay was hard and heavy so after a broken heart and a broken back i changed my minor to wait for it, wait for it jewelry and metalsmithing which is why i have been MIA for a while making jewelry takes a while. once i set up a photo shoot i will share what i have worked on! but un till then i will leave you with one jewelry designer i admire and would love to work for some day!
