band of outsiders pre-fall 2013

I always love band of outsiders. They always have interesting patters, and prints. In this collection i love the use of navy. I like the possibility of a new neutral. This is a classy quirky girl style I'm in love!

alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2013

every fashion week I always look forward to Alexander McQueens collection. This year it's no different. I really enjoyed the mostly black and white color platte. This made all of the details even more important. From the embellishment at the shoulders in the white dress below, to the carefully chosen accessories from jewelry, to belts, to shoes, and capes they bring this collection together.

i love this acorn necklace! its simple but still a very strong statement piece. I especially love the length of it!

The white "gown" dresses are I think my favorite of the whole collection. I love the detail of the round studs around the collar. Its like an elevated spiked collar attached to this amazing lace dress.

tell me what do you think? do you like this collection? can't get enough of it? wanna see more? let me know in the comments.

finding out who i am as a designer

Pinned Image
I have made things all my life, well ever since i could remember i was making jewelry, crafts, and other things moms put on the refrigerator. So going to art school was the next natural progression, however when i got there is was all about who you are as an artist. What was your niche or your style, who influenced you or your work. For me this was really hard because i didn't know who i was or what influenced me. the truth is in my heart I always knew I just needed time to get there. Painters and sculptures never influenced me ever, but makeup, fashion, and jewelry always did.  This made me realize that i was more in love with fashion and designing than making 2D art work, that is when i decided that i needed to switch to jewelry/ metal smithing. I knew this when all i thought about was making jewelry. From the time i woke up to the time i went to bed that is ALL i thought about.

fast forward to the second semester of jewelry when I let my professors use my pieces as part of a display, when my professor said to me "i put your ring with your sisters stuff because your stuff is way to similar." then she continued to say " its almost like they were done by the same person." Ouch that was rough to hear because I wasn't making things like my sister at all. My other thought was well were twins, we spend a lot of time together and are influenced by the same things.  At first i was upset, but then i took this opportunity to gather inspiration, Thank you pinrtest!, and to search what i love doing with my pieces that sets me apart from my sister.  I realized if they still look the same, well it's because our style is similar, and when I say this I mean they way we make things are similar. I know that I'm coming from a different place creatively and  I look forward to growing into who I am.

missoni for target

As every fashionista knows missoni for target came out yesterday. it's suppose to last until october 22nd however in my little town almost everything was gone by the end of the day. i was very lucky and scored some pieces that i love love love. there was pandaemonium because by the time i got there only a few pieces were still there and there was some crazy lady talking on the phone to someone describing every piece of clothing to the person over the phone, then she commented hey i have to let you go these people are grabbing everything in sight. (hello its missoni MISSONI how can you not grab everything and discard later) to top it off she kept following us and kept giving us the Manhattan once over. (for those of you who don't know what that is its when people "check you out" from head to toe and in my case disapprove of what your wearing or in this case what your holding) But i went home with a shopping high and  a full heart.

reasons why i got caught up in the missoni moment

1. i watch rachel zoe and that's it first time i saw Margherita missoni who i love.

2. i love the bold zig zag patterns.

3. they are Italian! they know how to dress.
